Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) says "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."
The word train means
It is very important for parents to understand that God expect us to train our children to apply biblical truths or principles while doing chores, and or pursuing their studies to school. Many of our children do not enjoy doing chores. They would rather watch television, or play video as much as they possibly can. However, they won't develop life skills in so doing. What our children do on a daily is what they are becoming. The Bibles says God chose Abraham because He knew that he would teach His children God's word.
Teaching our children do their chore will help them to develop the fruit of the spirit. They will learn how to walk in the spirit. They will learn that we do chores not because we feel like if, but because they have to be done in orderf for us to live in clean and healthy environments. The Bible says the just shall live by faith. Living by faith does not have to do with how we feel. Living by faith has to with obeying God's word.
In Colossians 3: 20 (NIV) says, "Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord." However, as parents we have to be mindful not to bully our children into doing what we would like for them to do. Hence, in verse 21, the word says for fathers as well as mothers not to embitter their children because they will become discouraged. Our teaching should motivated by the love of God; and 1 Corinthians 13: says the love of God never fails.
Therefore when these biblical truths are established in their hearts, as they get older, they will apply the same principles that we do everything by faith, and faith works by love. Love and faith are the fruit of the born again spirit.
