Praying For Yourself
A lot of women who are wives, mothers, sisters, and ministers of the Gospel, have a tendency to neglect themselves. We do everything for everyone else including praying, yet we neglect to do the same for ourselves. It is time to strengthen ourselves by praying the word of God over our lives, because it takes supernatural strength and wisdom to build a home.
1. Make a decision that you are going to pray for yourself daily: so that you can strengthen your spirit. Praying for yourself is not a selfish act, but a wise thing to do. It will bless you, your family, and everyone around you because of the wisdom of God that will come out of your mouth for your family, and other women around you.
2. Purpose in your heart that you will never say anything negative about yourself: Saying negative things about yourself cancels out the prayers you have been praying. After you have prayed for yourself, stay focused on what you have been praying about. Avoid conversations that will cause you to speak things contrary to what you have been believing God for. Remember you have what you say all the time, not only what you pray.
Some women like to say, "I am so stupid; I don't know how to pray like other people; I don't understand the word of God; I am so fat; I am not a good wife and/or mother; my husband does not love/like me; I am useless; I am broke; I don't know anything......." These negative statements about yourself will cause failure in your life. Those are not God's words, they are words from the devil. He is using your own mouth to destroy you; and God uses your mouth to bless you. "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." Psalms 139:14 (KJV).
3. Pray for yourself the word of God. God said He watches over His word to perform it. If you don't know where to start, pray the prayers that Paul the apostle prayed in the epistles, and personalize them and commit to pray them over your life.
