THE HOME
"Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands" (Proverbs 14:1) (Amplified Version).
"Wisdom has built her house.." Proverbs 9:1 a (Amplified Version).
The amplified bible defines wisdom as "the comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God." Building the home, is building the lives of the people who live there using the word of God, so that they can become who God has created them to be. Therefore, if you desire to live the blessed life that God has provided for you and your family, the wisdom of God is key. This wisdom, is found in the word of God.
JAMES MAKES A CLEAR DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE WISDOM OF GOD, AND EARTHLY WISDOM.
James 3:13-17 "Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge amongst you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy". (KJV).
Therefore we can see that the wisdom of God will create a peaceful, and loving atmosphere in the home. Whereas, earthly wisdom will cause confusion in the home, which is unrest, disharmony, and rebellion; and strife or arguments which is rivalry and selfish ambition. A home that is full of confusion and strife, is not going to experience the abundant life that the children of God are to experience. The abundant life is not only money. It includes having an abundance of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance which will keep you and your family in perfect health.
Home life, and family are very important to God because it is a place and an avenue through which God can express His love for us when we obey His word. It is a place where we teach the word of God, we live by the word, and a place to experience the love of God. Home is a place of refuge for the family, because the presence of God is always there. Hence there is a sense of safety, and peace.
Unfortunately, there are people who were not raised in, nor are currently living in a peaceful home in which the love of God reigns supreme. Hence God gave us His word as a tool to use in our homes so that we can experience the blessed life that He has already provided for us. Praying the promises of God for our families will change every inharmonious circumstance to line up with God's plan for our families. When we don't know God's promises, we open the door for the enemy to steal from us. Jesus tells us in John 10:10 "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)" (Amplified).
Hence, Hosea 4:6 says "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you that you shall be no priest to Me; seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children." When we don't embrace the word of and live by it, our children are affected by it. They won't have a clear sense of direction for their lives. They will live unfulfilled lives because they won't be connected to God's plan and purpose for them. As we train them in the home, the bible promises that as they grow older, they will not depart from the word they were taught growing up in a Christian home.
HOW DO WE BUILD THIS HOME?
1. Make a DECISION that you are going to build your house on the wisdom of God. The word of God is final authority in your home, and you are going to speak only faith filled words in your home, and over your loved ones. "Through faith we understand the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which do appear" (Hebrews 11:3). A good home, marriage, children, and family does not just happen because you are a Christian. We create this life with the word of God. We find the promises of God in the Bible, meditate on them, confess them, and do them. God said to in Joshua 1:8 "This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success". (Amplified Version)
Jesus said, "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock; And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it" (Matthew 7:24-27).
2. Set aside time alone with God to seek the wisdom of God by reading for example, the book of Proverbs, Psalms, and the Epistles. God has already promised us that we will find Him if we search for him with all of our hearts. Seeking God with all of our heart means we are searching for the wisdom of God with the intention to do what it says. James 1:22 a tells us to be doers of the word, not hearers only. In Matthew 6:33 Jesus tells us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (i.e. his way of doing and being right), and all these things shall be added to us.
3. Be diligent to pursue and seek the wisdom of God. Proverbs 4:7 a tells us that wisdom is the principal thing. We are to search for wisdom, as for hidden treasures. When we find wisdom and apply it in our lives, wisdom will protect us, it will bring honor to your family, blessings, and perfect health.
4. Pay attention to what comes out of your mouth all the time. Always remember that we have what we say all the time, not only what we say when we pray. We create our world with the words that come out of our mouths regardless of whether they are positive, or negative words. The words that come out of our mouths, are in our hearts in abundance. When we don't like the words that are coming out of our mouths, we ought to replace them with the word of God. We read the Bible and every promise we see in the word, we are to personalize it and start confessing it until we see it manifested in our homes, lives, children, finances, and our marriages. Proverbs 18:21 says "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof ". For example, we should not say that we are broke; Instead, say God supplies all of our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
5. Pray over your home, and family. James 5:16 says the prayer of the righteous makes tremendous power available, and dynamic in its working (Amplified Version). God wants us to communicate His promises for our lives back to him. In so doing, we are showing our trust in Him. Hebrews 11:6 says "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (King James Version). Always remember that the spirit of faith believes what God says in His word, and speaks it so that it can manifest. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:13 "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak" KJV.
6. Choose to walk in the Love of God with your family, because LOVE NEVER FAILS. Make a decision that you are going to daily practice 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8. Pray this scripture for yourself until it is rooted in your heart. Write this scripture on and index card, preferably the amplified version. Say it at least, three times a day. "I endure long, I am patient and kind; I am not envious nor boil over with jealousy, I am not boastful or vainglorious, I do not display myself haughtily, I am not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); I am not rude (unmannerly), and I do not insist on my own right or my own way, I am not self-seeking; I am not touchy or fretful or resentful; I take no account of the evil done to me [I pay no attention to a suffered wrong], I do not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail, I bear up under anything and everything that comes, I am ever ready to believe the best of every person, my hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and I endure everything [without weakening].
7. Play praise and worship music in your home, and Bible CDs. You can also play bible CDs softly throughout the night, and during the day when no one is home. This will help to create a peaceful atmosphere in the home. The presence of God will be in your home, and everyone will feel safe, and know in their hearts that everything is going to be alright regardless of what is going on around us.
8. Keep your home clean, and clutter free. This will make your family, and everyone that comes into your home feel loved, and welcome. This is doing the work of the ministry. Ministry starts at home. In Titus 2:4-5 it says the older women to ".....teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
